The Mechanical Elephant was produced for the Adventures in Comics exhibition of the same name, and The Garden of Forking Paths first appeared in Studies in Comics. The title is taken from a short story in Jorge Luis Borges’s Labyrinths.

John Miers is a cartoonist, illustrator, academic and teacher. He is lecturer in illustration at Kingston School of Art, a member of the Comics Research Hub at University of the Arts London, and co-organiser of Transitions.
